The best way to escape the rat race is not to join it! Find something you love to do for a living! If you find yourself trapped in the “rat race” and wanting a way out of it, listen up because this one is for you! I thought I could escape the rat race by becoming a stuntman! But after two decades of trying to make a living in the film industry, I wanted out! There wasn’t enough work so I was juggling other jobs all the time. This was exhausting. When the phone did ring I was commuting long distances and working long hours. I even got injured a few times too. By the time I was 40 I realised I needed an escape plan.
I think a lot of people are experiencing this realisation, whatever career they have chosen. As time runs out your priorities change. You want to spend your time differently and find you’re trapped by lifestyle choices you made decades earlier.
If you don’t have a plan “B”, there’s options and one of them is an online business. In 2014 I found an online business mentorship program which taught me how to earn an income online. It didn’t replace my income immediately, but gave me hope. I could work on my business around the stunt work and it gave me something to build up. As time went on, I learned how to make online sales.
I also had a passion for Kung Fu and opened my own class, teaching adults Wing Chun Kung Fu in Leeds. I also teach privately too. See my website here for more information.
The Best Way To Escape The Rat Race – A Passion Project
An online business has allowed many people to escape their careers and build lives of more freedom and flexibility. Back in the early 2000’s I was looking for a way to earn online. I tried a lot of courses but none of them worked for me. It was only after meeting an online entrepreneur in 2014 that things changed. One of the main differences with this business model was the fact that I could promote and sell products which carried a membership fee. This meant that I earned recurring commissions from online referrals, rather than “one off” commissions which I had done previously.
With my early attempts at being an affiliate marketer I wasted time promoting products which only paid peanuts. I used books from Amazon and earned a few pence (cents) from each sale. When I wasn’t making many sales this didn’t amount to much. But with recurring commissions and high ticket commissions, a couple of sales paid the same as a stunt job!
I realised I had a passion for blogging and this helped me generate sales online initially. Of course paid advertising is far faster and more scalable and I ventured into this strategy too when I could afford it.
So if you find yourself stuck in a job you hate, or you’re looking for a way to earn some extra money from selling other people’s products online, I suggest signing up for the free video series on this website. I costs nothing to check it out and it could give you the freedom you’re seeking!

Summary
So, what is the “best” way to escape the rat race? Of course it depends on your situation but I’ve found a way to make money from my passions through teaching Kung Fu, working in the film industry and building an online business. My Dad put me on to the idea of a “portfolio income” which means you’re not relying on a single source. Having only a single source of income means you become tied to it. When it stops working for you you’re trapped! Having a few trickles of income is far better because you’re less reliant on your employer, who could sack you at any time, or even become redundant themselves.
If you’re currently working in full time employment, an online business means you can set up automation in your spare time and build it up using paid advertising. This can run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week so it’s suitable for anyone who has little time but wants to add an income stream to their “portfolio”. Check out the free video series here.
